Northern Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre of Excellence

The Northern Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre of Excellence, announced by Canadore College in February 2022, provides comprehensive addiction treatment in Northern Ontario. Located in North Bay, this 53-bed facility offers residential withdrawal management, addiction treatment, and supportive services tailored to diverse populations, including francophone and Indigenous communities.

Led by experienced director Wendy Prieur, the Centre operates 24/7 with a team of medical specialists and addiction experts. It serves as an educational hub for Canadore College students and emphasizes culturally appropriate services for Indigenous clients. The Centre's program includes individualized treatment plans, 24-hour nursing care, on-site primary care, and mental health supports.

The facility integrates community-based supports to reduce the burden on emergency departments and hospitals. It focuses on post-care support, relapse prevention, and educational opportunities for clients to aid in long-term recovery and reintegration. This initiative aligns with Canadore College’s commitment to health and wellness, addressing the critical need for addiction treatment services in the region.
