Meet the Team

2025-2026 Team

Sruti Panicker, President

They told me to describe myself, I said I yap. In fact, I never stop talking. If talking were an Olympic sport, I’d have at least three gold medals and a sponsorship deal. I think that’s what has helped me connect with students—because when you talk a lot, people eventually start talking back because they think that is the only way to shut me up! As VP Student life I gained some experience, and I plan to use that experience to be an even better President. So, I guess Princess Leia gets to keep her Rebel Alliance for one more year. Just with slightly more meetings and maybe slightly less stormtroopers? Here’s to hoping deadlines don’t get me and coffee keeps fuelling me.

Madison Sutherland, Vice President of Operations

Hello, my name is Madison Sutherland, but you can also call me Maddy. A few things to know about me is that I am in the Business program. I am an Indigenous artist who uses many different art mediums. I have an orange cat named Sumo. My favourite subjects to talk about are astronomy and oceanology.

Reece Sommerfeld, Vice President of Student Life

My name's Reece and I am currently a first-year student in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at Canadore College. I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to continue my love for volleyball on the court for the Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team. When I’m not on the court you can find me working out in the fitness center, studying in the library, walking around the school with my friends, or in the gymnasium working.
As Vice President of student life, I am looking forward to helping plan an array of activities for the student body as well as providing a welcoming environment for everybody. I believe in the power of community and collaboration, and I will strive to represent the diverse voices and needs of all students. I am committed to making Canadore College a place where every student feels supported and valued.
Feel free to reach out with any ideas, concerns, or questions about student life on campus!

2024-2025 Team

Ivjot Singh, Vice President of Operations

Hello everyone, Ivjot here and I am from New Delhi, India. I am in Aviation Technician- Avionics Maintenance course. I love to read stuff related to science, archaeological discoveries, aviation and apart from this I am a gaming and anime nerd. My goal as the Vice President of Operations is to remove any systematic barriers for students, be a good listener to student voices, and organize various fun events filled with knowledge and laughter.

Sruti Panicker, Vice President of Student Life

Hello I am Sruti, which seems short and easy to pronounce, but can be a tongue twister, and a pain to say sometimes (just like me), so I also go by Cece. It is my 2nd year here at Canadore. I finished my healthcare administration course and am currently in the 1st year of Mental Health and Addictions program. I stand true to what I said while I was campaigning. I am here to represent the voice of “all” students and their ideas, and that is what I aim to do. Princess Leia had her Rebel Alliance, and CSC is my Rebel Alliance! May the force be with all of us!

Praveen Bharathi Ilangovan, Aviation Campus Rep

Currently enrolled in the Aircraft Structural Technician program. I am from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. I have also completed my Aircraft Maintenance Technician course (2019-2021) in Canadore College.

As an Aviation Campus Representative, my primary objective is to facilitate collaboration among peers and contribute to positive change within our community.

In my leisure time, I enjoy stargazing and I am an active Aurora chaser. I have a strong enthusiasm for discussions about aircraft and am dedicated to supporting fellow students on campus. My favourite sports is Cricket and I am an active member of North bay Cricket club.

Deeksha Poral Lakshminarayana, Commerce Court Campus Rep

I am originally from India with a background in Civil Engineering. Before moving to Canada, I worked for top construction companies in India and Dubai (UAE). I have completed my first course in Construction Project Management and am currently pursuing Project Management at the Commerce Court campus. I also have a passion for teaching and construction and am always looking out for travel and adventures with my husband. As Commerce Court Rep, my goals are to create a platform for students to share feedback, regularly address their concerns, and organize volunteer opportunities to help students connect, develop skills, and make a positive impact on and off campus.

Hannah Hornsby, West Parry Sound Campus Rep

Hello my name is Hannah Hornsby and I live in Penetanguishene, ON. I currently attend the West Parry Sound Canadore Campus and I am in the Practical Nursing Program. I also plan to bridge to my RN with Canadore after this program is completed. With taking on the role of the Student Council Rep for Parry Sound Campus, I want to ensure all students feel welcome and supported. I hope to plan fun activities and allow all students to have the opportunity to get involved and share their thoughts and ideas.

The Canadore Students' Council, comprised of elected representatives from the student body, aims to develop a cohesive on-campus programming model that promotes cultural, educational, social, wellness, and athletic development at Canadore College. This dedicated group of students works tirelessly to enhance the college experience, organizing events, addressing student concerns, and cultivating a positive school environment. Each member brings forward the needs, views, and opinions of their respective campuses within the CSC, votes on important matters during meetings, and represents students' perspectives on various committees.
