Five Canadore Panthers Varsity Athletes Recognized by OCAA

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) recognized the outstanding performance of five Canadore College elite student athletes last week.

Third-year strength and sport conditioning student Drake Stevenson of Atikokan, Ont., was recognized as a men’s volleyball east division second team all-star.

Ashlyn Kadlecik, bachelor of science in nursing student from London, Ont., was acknowledged as a women’s volleyball east division first team all-star.

Second-year business student Kristine Ledger of Port Carling, Ont. was also recognized as Women’s Volleyball East Division first team all-star.

Bachelor of science in nursing student, Jessica Venhuizen of London, Ont., came home with a title of women’s volleyball east division second team all-star.

Tiana Head, mental health and additions student from North Bay, Ont., was credited to the OCAA women’s volleyball all-rookie team.

This is the second consecutive year that five Canadore Panther student athletes receive prestigious recognitions from the OCAA. The men’s awards were granted in Toronto, Ont. on February 20 and the women’s were presented in Sudbury, Ont. on February 22.

The college will be hosting its annual student leadership and athletics award on April 3.

The Panthers teams would like to thank the fans that supported them throughout the 2017-2018 season.
