Alumni Spotlight: Linda Trudeau

As a child, Linda Trudeau (60) often heard her father’s words: “Only education will help you go as far as you can.” But for Linda, that path wasn’t always clear. Once so shy she would rarely speak, she quit high school at 16. Years later, at 37, Linda arrived at Canadore College in 2002 as a mature student and single mother, determined to carve out a new future. She began in the Office Administration program and went on to graduate from the two-year Business program, earning additional credentials along the way.
With the support of instructors and the First Peoples’ Centre, Linda gained the confidence she needed to pursue her goals. She has since devoted her career to helping others succeed, exceeding as a public speaker, and transforming her community.
Having returned to her home in Moose Factory, Linda now serves as the Business Development Officer with Moose Cree First Nation. Whether she’s organizing symposiums, applying for funding, administering surveys for strategic planning, or mentoring young entrepreneurs, Linda brings knowledge and purpose to her work. From boardrooms to land-based gatherings, she is helping Indigenous businesses grow with strength and direction.
“Once I landed my first job after college, I thought—wow, I really can do anything.”
“I didn’t want just another job. I wanted a career—something meaningful that I could be proud of.”
“Canadore helped me build confidence. I came in shy and unsure, but I left knowing who I was and what I wanted to do.”
“There were times I felt overwhelmed. But the staff, especially at the First Peoples’ Centre, always made time for me. It made a difference.”
“When someone comes to me with a business idea and no clue where to start, I get excited. I know what it’s like to dream something into reality and find what the market needs.”
