Theatre Canadore turns boardgame into stage production
Theatre Canadore is set to launch its fifth season with an exciting theatrical performance starting on Thursday, April 10, 2025. This season’s production draws inspiration from the iconic game Clue, promising a unique fusion of intrigue, history, and humor.

Clue On Stage is a comedy of infectious energy and the absolute right choice for this spring’s Theatre Canadore production,” said Joshua Bainbridge, Production Director. “I mean, couldn’t we all use a laugh right now?”

The play transports the audience to the 1950s, a period marked by the anti-communist U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy's witch hunts. Against this historical backdrop, the story unfolds in a mansion, bringing together beloved characters such as Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlett, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Professor Plum, and Mr. Green. The stage is set for an engaging mystery filled with suspense and comedic moments.

Clue On Stage has been the most incredible experience,” said Justine Thompson, who plays Miss Scarlett. “It’s the final product of a three-year-long journey of discovery and development in the field of acting. Being able to fall in love with such a complex character and bring her to life is something I will always treasure. Building each scene with the intensity and mystery of the play with such a terrific cast has become a dream come true.”

“Opening our graduation play Clue On Stage, I’m realizing how much I’m going to miss the program and doing theatre on a regular basis,” said Nika Rohachevaska, who plays Mr. Boddy and the Singing Telegram Girl. “There is a lot to enjoy about this play: it’s very funny, colourful, and unique. I have enjoyed being in the Acting for Stage and Screen program a lot, and I think it’s definitely a good start for anyone who wants to be a good, professional actor.”

Previously operating under the name Rep 21, Canadore College’s acting company officially rebranded as Theatre Canadore in 2021, a change that reflected the program’s expanded focus to include film-acting techniques. The Acting for Stage and Screen program is designed to equip aspiring actors with the essential tools, skills, and professional standards required to excel in the competitive realms of theatre, film, and television. This comprehensive three-year program blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, providing students with a solid foundation in the techniques and skills necessary to pursue careers across various sectors of today's dynamic entertainment industry.

The three-night run begins on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. on the David Fox Stage in the Canadore College Theatre (G107). Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Further details about the production and the Acting for Stage and Screen program are available here.
