We envision a carbon neutral Canadore by 2031. A Canadore that embeds the SDGs into its core, promotes well-being through thoughtful action, and educates to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
🍃 SDG Accord:

In 2022, Canadore College signed the SDG Accord, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2023, the Canadore Students’ Council (CSC) also signed the SDG Accord, joining the College in its efforts to promote sustainability, social responsibility, and positive change within the campus community.

Awards and Certifications

AASHE Stars GOLD:

Canadore College earned an Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Gold STARS rating, recognizing leadership in sustainability across various areas. Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship (QES):

Canadore College was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship (QES), recognizing its commitment to fostering global engagement and supporting student success. Campus Living Labs National Demonstrate Site (CICan):

Canadore College was honored to be selected twice by Colleges and Institutes Canada as a national demonstration site for its campus Living Lab projects. The first recognition came in 2022, followed by a second in 2023. These projects showcase innovative, sustainability-focused initiatives that integrate student learning with real-world environmental solutions, positioning Canadore as a leader in advancing practical, impactful sustainability efforts in higher education.
ImpAct-Climate Challenge:

Canadore College was named the 2023 winner of the ImpAct-Climate Challenge in the medium-large category, recognizing its outstanding efforts in addressing climate change through sustainable initiatives and leadership. Canadore College received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, recognizing its commitment to sustainable forest management. Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI):

Canadore College achieved Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification, highlighting its commitment to responsible forest management and sustainability. This certification acknowledges the College's efforts to protect biodiversity, promote environmental stewardship, and support educational initiatives related to sustainable forestry practices.
International Green Gown Award (Finalist):

Canadore College was named a finalist for the prestigious International Green Gown Award in the Nature Positive category for its forest management project. This recognition highlights the College's commitment to sustainable forestry practices, biodiversity conservation, and environmental stewardship, showcasing its efforts to protect and enhance local ecosystems through innovative forest management initiatives. Communities in Bloom:

In 2023, Canadore College served as the institutional lead for North Bay's Community in Bloom submission, helping the city achieve a perfect 5 Blooms rating in both provincial and national competitions. Building on this success, the College continued its leadership in 2024, once again guiding the city to a 5 Blooms rating in the national submission, further showcasing their commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
Watershed Hero:

Canadore College was recognized as a Watershed Hero by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority for its significant contributions to the preservation, protection, and improvement of the environment in the watershed. This honor acknowledges the College's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship through various initiatives and partnerships that positively impact the local ecosystem.
