Meet the Research Centre Team

  • Dr. Christina DeRoche - Director, Research Centre

    Dr. Christina DeRoche is the Director of the Research Centre. In her previous experience, Christina worked as a Manager for the local children’s treatment centre where she managed various rehabilitation programs and research and evaluation services. In this role she worked directly with community professionals in Nipissing, Parry Sound, and Muskoka districts. Prior to this, Christina worked for the local hospital in their Research Department and Quality Department supporting various internal projects and initiatives. Christina earned her PhD from McMaster University in Sociology working within an interdisciplinary setting with the School of Family Medicine and School of Rehabilitation Sciences. Her research interests include women and children’s health and mental health, and applied research bettering the community service model for families and children.

  • Siddharth M. Ramani - Research Coordinator

    Siddharth M. Ramani (Sid) is a dynamic professional specializing in Research Coordination and Project Management. With a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Asia's third-oldest engineering institute, College of Engineering, Pune, and a post-graduate certificate in Environmental Project Management from Seneca College, as well as Construction Project Management from Canadore College, Sid brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.

    Currently serving as the Research Coordinator at Canadore College, Sid plays a pivotal role in coordinating project and event duties, drafting and implementing contracts and agreements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute various initiatives such as TEDxCanadoreCollege and Student Expos.

  • Omid Ali Kharazmi - Research Specialist

    Omid graduated in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Mashhad in Iran. Subsequently, he pursued his MBA at Carleton University in Canada, completing it in 2006. In 2007, he embarked on his PhD journey in Innovation Management at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

    His teaching career commenced as a teaching assistant at the University of Stirling in 2008. Following the attainment of his PhD in 2011, he secured a faculty position at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM). In 2015, he took on the role of manager at the Research Centre at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Faculty of Letters and Humanities, while concurrently fulfilling his teaching obligations. He actively participated in diverse applied research projects, collaborating with private companies, large organizations, and municipalities. Noteworthy among these projects was the design of a strategic plan for Coca-Cola Company in Iran. Since 2018, he has been an honorary lecturer at the University of Stirling. Currently, he is a Research Specialist in the Research Centre supervising and leading the Social Innovation portfolio.

  • Christopher (Kip) Arlidge - Research Specialist

    Christopher (Kip) Arlidge has been a part-time professor in the Functional Genomics and Biotechnology programs since 2020. Additionally, he currently manages the Cancer Epigenomics Lab of Dr. Mathieu Lupien at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and leads an annual Advanced Genomics Techniques Workshop at the Wellcome Genome Campus in the UK. His research interests focus on the development and implementation of new molecular lab techniques to address a variety of health and environmentally-related questions.

    In his spare time, Christopher enjoys backcountry camping, trail running, and spending time with his growing family.

    At the Canadore Research Centre, Christopher works as a part-time research specialist, helping manage projects, students, and partners in the Genomics and Biotechnology area.

  • Kristina Apostolakis - Research Centre Assistant

    Kristina Apostolakis is the Research Centre Assistant at Canadore College's Research Centre. She brings with her a strong background in academic quality and community service. Kristina is an alumna of the Community Service Worker program at George Brown College. During her studies, she focused on community projects aimed at developing programming for children and assisting in the opening of a community centre. Kristina also worked as an Executive Assistant at a leading engineering design firm in Toronto. In this role, she provided high-level administrative support in a fast-paced, multinational professional services environment, further enhancing her organizational and project management skills.
